South Korea :

As those familiar with protests in Korea well know, they can become quite unusual at times. However, nothing brings out the crazy protesters better then the good old territorial spat between Korea and Japan over the Dokdo Islets:

It's Hammer Time for Anti-Japanese Protesters in KoreaAbout 40 military veterans wearing army uniforms staged a gory protest outside Japan’s embassy yesterday.

They cut the heads off live pheasants, Japan’s national bird, and dripped the blood on Japanese flags and on pictures of Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda and former Japanese leaders. Some battered birds to death with hammers. Others cut open bellies and ate the livers, shouting: “Dokdo is our territory!”

Believe it or not this protest is not as gory as either the finger chopping lady or knife in the gut man. This protest is also not as imaginative as the bee man or the flag eater but it does serve as a perfect example of how absurd these Dokdo protests can get.

There is some unintended irony in this situation which is quite humorous:

”The Korean nationalists are killing Common pheasant(Phasianus colchicus),and it’s name in Japan is Kourai-kijiコウライキジ meaning “Korean Pheasant”.

The natonal bird of Japan is Green Pheasant(Phasianidae versicolor),a subspecies of Common pheasant only seen in Japan.”
